Two Super Heroes and Six Stitches | My Boys on the Homefront

I wonder what went through the minds of my parents as my brothers and I all had our own share of accidents that led to ER visits. Not believing in karma or anything of the sort, I realize bumps, bruises, cuts, scrapes, casts and even stitches are part of being a boy. However, I do realize that I can better empathize with what my parents felt when we did something boneheaded to require a sudden trip to the hospital. I don’t think my (our) boys are going to be any different as we are now on our second trip to the ER for a minor head trauma. The heart of a warrior can not be subdued by the sharp corners and dangerous elements that are present in a house or anywhere else for that matter. As was any other normal evening in our house, Elias decided to play Superman and ended up meeting his Kryptonite in the form of our basement door. His super powers couldn’t save him this time, but he was quick to go back at it the next day, teaching his younger brother the ropes in proper adornment of a cape. Josiah wasn’t to be outdone and wiped out that afternoon, scraping up his forehead and nose (no pictures included). Oh the joys of having boys…I wouldn’t trade it for the world!!
